Waterfront editor Jody Robb talks to an expat’, some young-at-heart retirees and a couple looking to secure a legacy for their children about the waterfront homes they’ve recently purchased.

The couple had been farming for 45 years and were used to privacy and green pastures so suburbia would have been a shock to the system.
“We needed to see Mt Taranaki and the sea,” says Jenny.
While not specifically looking for a waterfront property, the couple chanced upon a home on 4.25 hectares of land with direct beach access on the Taranaki coast at Shipwreck Point. Swivel your head and take in views of coast, sea, lush Taranaki countryside, the Kaitake Ranges and the fringe of Egmont National Park – even the bathroom looks at the ocean.
