It’s show time again

The local A&P Show remains a must-do on most New Zealanders’ social calendars – despite the changing world we live in and the creep of cities towards the rural hinterland. The challenge is to continue to present rural activities along with entertainment which attracts the public, while offering a different experience from what is available in the city.

There’s dog trials, motocross bikes, highland dancing and sheep shearing. Wood chopping and dressage, every manner of livestock, and often a rogue goat or sheep to keep everyone on their toes.

We take a look at four thriving A&P Shows and how they’re reinventing themselves for 21st century life.
